In contrast to the recent free abstracts, today for some reason I started putting together rigid shapes, and can't get alot more rigid than squares. I gessoed a thick piece of square mountboard, squared it off and began painting some of them.
I'm now adding layers. Next I will add a light background to the blank squares, more layers, texture, do some sanding back and decide where to place motifs. It's fun, but don't know if I'll be able to stay so straightlaced for long.
